It’s not easy to say ‘yes’ to suffering. We have been trained to believe that suffering is wrong, a problem to be solved, an evil to be corrected. But you can’t say ‘yes’ to life - at least, life as it really is - if you can’t embrace suffering too.

The idea that we can say a whole-hearted ‘yes’ to everything in life can be found in Tantric philosophy. This comes directly from one of its most important pillars. This is the idea that only one thing really exists.1 Behind all the variety of life and experience is just one thing: Consciousness.

This implies a wholehearted ‘yes’ to everything in life because in this philosophy everything that has ever happened is the product of this ‘divine’ Consciousness. The universe is Consciousness manifesting itself in billions and billions of different ways - here as a person, there as a kangaroo, here as a galaxy, there as a speck of dust, and so on.
